Shakespeare wrote a lot of plays for actors.
If Shakespeare never took action and wrote the plays and the actors never took ACTION and acted then Shakespeare’s place in history would would not have occurred.
Hint…the key to the performances was initiated with ACTION.
The truth is there are 2 types of people. People who make excuses and people who make a way.
Which group do you fall in?
Lets get something straight. There is a
But, everybodys up to their eyeballs in explanations they want accepted as excuses – they want to say “excuse me and have that be the end of it. “Thad I was going to….” “Thad, I thought by the time I saw it I thought it was too late so I didn’t even try…” or Staff: ‘I thought¦, “I assumed¦, “I was busy¦, ‘Mary was supposed to¦, “my equipment broke down. Blah, blah, blah. Its all irrelevant. You dont get paid for making excuses and you don’t pay a Staff to hear excuses.
You pay for performance.
And you DON’T get paid if you don’t perform.
Ironically, it is painfully clear that most people prefer not to perform. Classic example is the last small contest I held and most people did not even make an attempt to perform.
As individuals and as a society we desperately, urgently need to start saying, “No, sorry, but you are NOT excused. AND even more importantly “No, sorry, but I am NOT making excuses”
This is accountability¦but the BIG caution. You need and MUST apply this to yourself -FIRST! Otherwise you are a hypocrite.
Teachers and principals who cant get kids to learn, football players who cant get along with coaches and teammates, salespeople who cant sell, employees who cant do their jobs, elected officials who cant stop stealing or screwing around long enough to do their jobs, People who can’t break the friction from their couch to enter comments into a blog……etc., etc., . Per Dan Kennedy “they all need to be fired and exiled.”
It starts with the person in the mirror. The elite minority of people I know and work with, who make big money, think, talk and act differently about this.
They deliberately and simply accept responsibility.
A great example is my friend Lloyd Irvin who is famous for his ‘intolerance’ of excuse making. He always says “Yes or NO….It’s black or white…there’s no gray zone!”
That usually works out better for everybody, by the way.
Its the mealy-mouthing and stonewalling and lying and finger-pointing that gets everybody in trouble or worsens the trouble theyre in. Own your successes, own your screw-ups – and opt for the swift sword. Government and big business is paralyzed by people far more interested in covering up their mistakes to cover their butts than in getting anything accomplished, but at the entrepreneurial level we need not follow their bad example. Choose thoughts, language and behavior that give you the moral authority to demand much of everyone around you.
If youre busy making excuses, you wont be making much of anything else.

Act or Re-ACT
All of these tie together. This blog reminds me of one thing “how I was brought up” I love my family and I believe that if I was brought up any different I might not have the same passions as I do! With that being said- My father, when I was in about 7th grade was laid off, then out of a job because they packed up and moved to mexico. I was always hateful towards big business Until- I found the concept above.
I love my father to death(but he was only acting as he knew) soley to re-act to any and all circumstances that come his way.
As Thads blog comes- please apply and think about my comment- As 08 approaches we must ACT to all that come our way!
If we ReAct- we are caught in the system the web of deception, the devil etc…
Its Time to ACT.. Perform as we move foward
I have know Thad for a very long time maybe longer than I should say.. hahah
I have learned that when things come his way both good and bad he is a master of “Act to the Outcome” and not REACT to it. When you React, it is a huge Distraction..
I hope you all are just as excited as me to “PerForm” “ACT” in the coming months..

Well said Thad. One of the things in our business that more often then naught gets in the way of hitting deadlines is Analysis Paralysis. In other words, over planning gets in the way of implementation. This especially happens when there are several opinionated people that are pulling the planning in different directions. The end users are were so pathetically slow at giving feedback we are basically going to build it and then ask them if they like it.

Wow, are you reading my mail? You’re almost scarey!
No matter how much you plan and paln, nothing will happen until you do. No excuses, no ‘it was their fault’, look in the mirror….
I happen to have a mean boss..he never lets me have time off, he’s a slave driver, and when I ask for a vacation, he tells me to get to work and earn enough to pay for it!!
Every time I look in the mirror I see my boss….!!!
I have made a 90 day committment, and have a partner to be accountable to, because a committment is just that until you actually carry out what you commit, and then it becomes reality.
I’m not big on New Yera’s resolutions, because most of them are broken within the first week. I take my year in 90 day cycles, and every day is a new year for me.
Now go make some money!!
